Kahani [ a story, a narrative, a tale ]
The story of KAHANI begins in 2006 - it is the story of the awakening of a secret valley lapped by the Arabian Sea. Our valley is located a few miles from the ancient town of Gokarna, birthplace of Shiva, a place of devout pilgrimage and a calmer life. In the 1970s Gokarna became an essential stop on the Hippie Trail, where global travelers found an oasis of beauty, freedom and good times. One of the attractions that placed Gokarna so firmly on this trail is the string of perfect coves that stretch south from the town;from Kudle Beach, to Om Beach, to Half-Moon and finally to the most remote - the aptly named Paradise Beach

It is here, nestled behind Paradise beach, that you can find our secret valley. For generations the land had been benignly cultivated for coconut, rice and betel nut; a golden valley known as the "paradise behind paradise" to locals and hippies alike. In 2006, the valley was looking for new ownership, and against all the odds it was a family from faraway lands that heard the call, and throwing all caution to the wind became its new guardians - looking to create a story of their own. And so a new chapter for the "paradise behind paradise" began.
Bringing in expertise and craftsmen from all over India and beyond, KAHANI was conceived as a place of relaxation, and rejuvenation; a place for family and friends to gather, celebrate and indulge in the goodness of life.

The main villa at KAHANI houses the Bellm family collection of antiques from accross India and South Asia, from the rarest table from naga land in the drawing room, to the full size pair of wooden horses from Rajasthan in the dining pavilion.
Every piece tells a story.

A story we look forward to sharing with you.
